An alternative Rheumatoid Arthritis Model

The Collagen Antibody-Induced Arthritis (CAIA) model is an excellent alternative to both the CIA and K/BxN models, which both present researchers with challenges of either length of study or expensive colonies to maintain. In the CIA model, researchers must factor in a six-week study and account for therapeutic regime challenges since animals develop disease at varying rates. In the K/BxN model, induction uses sera that contains an undefined polyclonal mix varying from batch to batch. Researchers also need to be prepared for possible colony sickness and the time required for the animals to develop arthritis spontaneously. The CAIA model induced by the ArthritoMab™ Antibody Cocktail enables researchers the ability to rapidly execute studies in 1/3 of the time it takes to run a CIA model and eliminates the variability that applies to the K/BxN model.
